S-400 in action
According to Russian newspaper Kommersant, Russia has agreed
to sell China its most advanced mobile surface-to-air missile
system S-400 to equip 2 to 4 Chinese battalions.
The PLA has already received 15 battalions of S-300PMU2
anti-air defense system and 4 sets of 83M6E2 command system
based on a 2007 treaty, aiming at protecting major cities
like Shanghai and Beijing from missile attack.
S-400 is Russia's third generation anti-aircraft
weapon system with a range of over 400 km. It uses
three different missiles, including the extremely
long range 40N6, long range 48N6 and medium range 9M96 missiles,
