Chinese Comedian Guo Degang

Guo Degang is China's most popular and talented northern-style comedian, specialised in the traditional Chinese stage art "cross-talk" (相声). He was trained in Beijing Opera, Tianjing Opera (pingju), Hebei Opera (hebeibangzi) and story-telling (pinghua) since 8 with a broad knowledge and deep understanding of Chinese culture and history. His achievements on and off stage have crossed over to the fields outside his trained areas, which include directing films, producing TV series and and hosting various programs on television, with the scripts almost all written by himself. Of course, his biggest accomplishment is closely related to his profession: He is credited for reviving the dying art of cross-talk nearly single-handedly.

Below is his latest verse he freshly posted on weibo that praises national hero Yue Fei and condemns the treacherous premier:

郭德纲

时光荏苒,
转瞬三年。
忆惜萧墙之变,
八月何其毒也。
执莫须有之三字,
借意欲为之一辞。
若群鸦之啄孤鼠,
似鸟卵之压泰山。
陷马援于交趾,
召岳飞在朱仙。
狐诈鹰扬,
难穷其险健,
鼠牙雀角,
莫喻其奸欺。

逐雨韵以悲号,
隨风威而淅沥。
自谓暮夜无知,
不思天理可畏。
汉多名士宋多真儒,
