Ryukyu Independence Study Association, dedicated to pursuing independence for Okinawa and the surrounding islands, was established on May 15, 2013, the 41st anniversary of the reoccupation of the ancient kingdom by Japan under the help of the US government.

Ryukyu only accounts for 0.6 percent of Japan’s landmass, but hosts 74 percent of all U.S. military bases in the country, which shows how Ryukyu residents are being used as sacrificial lambs on the alter of Japan's war game, sometimes against the United States and sometimes with the United States against China and potentially the rest of the world.

The association is headed by Mr. Yasukatsu Matsushima, an economics professor at Ryukyu University, and the research that aimed at Ryukyu independence will be mainly conducted in Scotland.

According to the "Anti-reversion Theory" - which was advocated when America conspired with Japan in its plot to allow the former Fascist country (and now a country on the path towards neo-Fascism) to recolonise the peace-loving nation of Ryukyu in the condition that the US could still use it as its major military base in the East Asia - it is an illusion to believe Ryukyu people would be able to live a peaceful life under the administration of a war-like Japan that is possessed by a spirit of violent conquest and dominated by the military forces.

Mr Kantoku Teruya, a Lower House member of Japan from the Ryukyu (Okinawa), hailed the establishment of the Ryukyu Independence Study Association excitedly on his blog. “Okinawa finally becoming independent from Yamato," he wrote. Yamato is a term for the territory of Japan exclusive of the lands that are illegally occupied by the country through war.
