A post of early Chinese film: The Railway Guardians.

The story sets against the backdrop of the Korean War in which the security of China railway that links the two countries was crucial to the outcome of the war, thus a struggle between the railway workers and the US agents took place.

By then it was Chinese who won the fight despite the agents were assisted by the US air force, but this round China is very likely to lose the battle, as the agents have occupied the premier's office, and as the head of the state (Xi Jinping) so far shows little sign of being capable of safe guarding the national interest.

 

When China's transportation is concerned, its airplanes in the skies, cars on the roads and ships in the waterways are all legged far behind the West, with one exception though, the trains, more precisely, the railway system. Its military-style management under the central government, its principle to place the national strategic interest above economic profit and its rapid advancement in rail line construction and high speed trains not only play an indispensable role in the daily lives of the ordinary Chinese people, especially the peasant workers, but has become the front runner within the global railway industry which helps boost China's overall military strength.

China's Railway Minister

Death of China Railway at the hand of the Manchu remnant - the last railway minister of a socialist new China is found to be the great-grand son of the last railway minister of the Manchu regime

It was at the critical moment when China's high speed trains were going to unite much of the Asian continent and extend the link to the Middle East and the Europe, an exceptionally capable and hard working railway minister was abruptly arrested and charged for corruption and multiple extra marital affairs in an environment where taking, even demanding, bribery and promiscuity, even bigamy, are so widespread at all levels' of Chinese government right from the top at the premier's office. And he was replaced by a cunning man who knows and cares nothing except his political career, just like his hanjian great-grand father who served an alien Manchu regime in its dying day. Thus China's aggressive railway progress came to a sudden halt, followed by the abolition of the united and effective railway administration in preparation for privatisation and ultimate acquisition by the global capital group based in the Wall Street.

Here is the question: As premier, why Wen Jiabao wants to sabotage China's successful railway system? And as premier-wanna-be, why Li Keqiang is determined to derail China's fast development?

Well, we think the NYT has the answer on Wen Jiabao and the former World Bank President Robert Zoelick knows what's behind Li Keqiang's motivation. One has a dirty ass to cover up and another has a political ambition to fulfil.

What Chinese say about China's railway privatisation:

大众老虎: 铁路市场化目的是什么?如果市场那么神奇,为什么美国的铁路技术和高铁没有中国计划经济的铁路先进?鼓励外资进入中国铁路的理由是什么?是中国缺少资金?可是我们借给美国一两万亿美元,国内流动性泛滥。市场化就是为私有化,私有化的主体是洋人和权贵,最终结果就是导致殖民化当下,私有化就是卖国!

张宏良: 三大绝杀考验民族复兴.1)铁路外资化断绝欧亚大陆桥,控制中国大动脉,海上包围困死中国;2)城镇化土地兼并堵塞农民返乡,高房价又挡住农民进城,逼迫2亿多流民重蹈2千年流民起义道路;3) 单方面发展富人社团形成执政基础黑道化,把中国变成自相残杀的上海滩……如此险恶困局势必要把民族复兴变成白日做梦。

Private ownership of the rail network in the UK also led not to 1 but to several train crashes with many deaths - one very near my house. So the state had to take over the rail system to stop this. Now safety has improved a lot with no major crashes。

2nd feature of railways is that private companies are very inefficient. In London metro system private companies modernising the system lost the taxpayer $3 billion. The state had to take over the work to stop the losses.

The main internal challenge is how to break free from the old dead circle: Every time when the nation entered a prosperity era, the special interest groups would begin to strengthen their grip on power in order to maximize their benefits and achieve monopoly control of the national wealth.

There is no communication between elite class and the grassroots, and the nation cannot hold itself as one piece. It is a situation where Yang force is exposed to public with Yin essence filled its core, where one bullies around but is a coward by nature, where one presents oneself as a noble character while deep down being a truly wretched creature, where the wretched get their way while the nobles are suppressed.

The outcome of the China-US wrestling will depend on internal strength. The one who is the first to break down from within will lost the ultimate battle.
