Shortly before April Fool's Day, Chinese newspapers
published a survey result, said to be conducted by a "world
renowned" PR company, claiming that of all governments
in the world, the current Chinese administration enjoys the
highest level of credibility in the eye of its people. The
news quickly prompted an online debate among Chinese Netizens
in terms of if that PR company has any credibility in the
eye of the world.
Here are two of the typical comments emerged
in the debate:
- April 1, that's the
best joke of the day.
- I found my teeth missing
(by laughing too hard)

Here are some clues to why so many Chinese
(up to 88%?) regard the survey result is a joke:
Clue #1
Early this morning, China's petrol price hit new record high
at 8 yuans per litre, following the mad price hike for shallots,
beans, gingers, apples, cooking oil, copper, aluminium, gold,
cotton, sugar, coal, mellons, tea, rice, housing .... Is
there still room left for the ordinary Chinese people to
survive in this country?
Clue #2:
Premier
Wen is the greatest national leader in human history,
without him Chinese people would suffer in hell! - I said
this because today is April Fool's Day. You know what I
mean.

Life of hell in some poor rural areas under the great leadership
of Premier Wen when his family becomes a billionaire household
in a short time span of mere eight years.

An online drawing+verse artwork created by
an cyber identity 羽箭 pours scorn on an earthbound turtle
who cherishes an ambition of taking down all starts from
the sky and adding them to its private collection. When you
turn the remnants of its body, namely the gang of four feet,
upside down, you'll get the surname initial of this turtle
-shaped PM (龟丞相).
Here is a wonderful footnote attributed to
the sky-watching turtle:
强国老吴:在中国有一种富裕,
叫先富, 有一种忽悠, 叫共富;在中国有一种西奴, 叫精英; 有一种骗局, 叫政改;在中国有一种抢劫, 叫改制,
有一种服务, 叫为人民币。
More online tributes to a sky-watching creature:

- Dark night gives me
black eyes and I use them to watch the sky. I see all the
stars belong to the company led by my dear offspring, with
the shining lights from diamond sparking owned by my wife
darling.
- If I were him, I'll
resign at once. I won't have the cheek to keep mucking around
the state affairs when I'm so passionately loathed by so
many people in the state.
- You shall know the
thickness of the earth's crust. The fire in the heart of
the planet won't get your feet burned.
- You guys dare to poke
fun at Premier Wen, you are all the remnants of Cultural
Revolution.

But not all Chinese leaders are viewed by people as jerks,
some, like former Chongqing leader Bo Xilai, are highly respected
by the general populations in China.
A five thousand-year old civilisation with a highly advanced
cultural heritage has nurtured a sophisticated people who
will be very hard to fool.
Here are comments about Bo Xilai:
- Will history remembers
this image? [A photo image that shows Bo Xilai apparently
in despair over China's future - Multipletext]
- I adore Bo Xilai.
He is a real man.
- Bo Xilai is a miracle
of the era.
- He's not like today's
typical government officials. He lacks luck but is full of
courage. He is a true man and will go down history as the
key figure in the turning point of our nation.
- Also memorable is
his superb handwriting.

A view of Chongqing hotel guest room
活力johnwoo:
When I visited Chongqing four years ago, the city looked
rather shabby. But as I returned this time, the hotel driver
would proudly tell me what a great city Chongqing has become.
The new Chongqing is indeed a secure, pretty, fashionable,
clear and unique place, and I still feel amazed at the thorough
transformation Chongqing has gone through in just four years.
Mr Bo Xilai did a great job in Dalian, now he has done even
a better job in Chongqing. The locals will forever remember
what Bo has brought to them. Only people can judge who is
a good leader.
爱国种子:
It is people, not the leaders at the top, who know best in
terms of who are the good officials and who are the corrupt
junks.
