12 June 1953, Friday
Got up early in the morning just after 4. At 20 to 9, we
boarded a vehicle. The boys are great, taking good care of
us girls, carrying heavy luggage up and down. There are several
old comrades coming with us, which will be a quite helpful.
We arrived at Blue Village at 10, and settle in a bureau's
hostel. We girls at #4, while boys occupy a #3 building,
which is quite far away from us. The living condition here
is very austere. The house is made from mud and straw, the
roads are unpaved, and the food is rough. I had a bowl of
noodle with shredded pork at a small noodle shop, which is
quite cheap, only cost me 1,600 yuans. Dinner was taken at
the railway canteen one kilometres away.
