People and Elites

A TV personnel promoted by
China's central television station openly
praised separatists and terrorists while
viciously vilified national heroes, which
caused huge public uproar. When learned a
book signing event by this personnel was
scheduled to take place last Saturday at
a Beijing book store, a group of people,
including a man in his eighties
travelling to the capital from other part
of China, arrived to confront him, only
found that the event had been cancelled.
The angry crowd
dashed into the manager's office
demaning an answer to the hasty
cancellation of the event.

A retired worker
replaced coward author, who dared
not to show up, and spoke to the
audience what he had experienced
during Mao Zedong era when the
workers at grassroots levels, not
a small group of elites, were
respected with true dignity.
