China Benevolence and Filiality - Two Pillars of Chinese Moral Foundation
Emperor Shun (舜帝, 2300BC - 2200BC) is considered as one of the nine founding fathers (三皇五帝) of Han Chinese nation, a moral representative of the Chinese culture based on benevolence (仁, compassion beyond the humanity) and filiality (孝, the very foundation of the humanity). On September 8, at the hill foot of Mt Jiuyi (九嶷山) in Hunan Province (湖南省) where Emperor Shun died while on his business trip around the country, nearly ten thousand people paid their tribute to the great man at a memorial service in grand traditional Han style . Hunan is also the birthplace of the greatest founding father of the modern China, Chairman Mao Zedong. (Source of info/photo: 赵众志-新华社) Prev: Uighur
