Kadeer's Relatives Rebiya Kadeer's youngest son with her first husband, currently serving his prison sentence for tax evasion: I never understand how Mom could desert me when I was just an 8-month old baby. I feel she owes me too much. I was brought up by Dad and my Eldest Brother, and before I turned 17, I had no memory of my mother whatsoever.
After I graduated from Xinjiang Medical University, I worked at Mom's trading business since 1999. By then Mom was managing director of the company, and my stepfather would call her almost daily urging her not to pay tax. In 2007, as the legal representative of the company, I was arrested for the crimes of tax fraud. When learned that our company was investigated, Mom called me from the United States and urged us to go to central square, pour ourselves with petrol and burn ourselves alive. Hearing what she said to me, I replied nothing but hang up the phone immediately. I can't understand, as a mother, she would urge her son to kill himself in such a horrific way. I'm a father myself and I love my children. They are still young and they need me. No way that I ever will follow her bloody advice. 1 | 2 Prev: Relatives
