Health Advice by a TCM Doctor (1)

Body and Mind:

  • In most cases, we get sick due to the fact that our body is trying to adjust and fine-tune physical functioning. Take it easy and it will soon be over.

  • Chaos in physical system is the cause for most illnesses, while the physical chaos is caused by mental turmoils.

  • The key to nourish our energy is to pacify our mind. If our mind is stirred, it will blow the wind in our heart; the strong wind will then fuel the liver Fire, and a powerful Fire will then dry up kidney Water which is the reservoir of vitality.

  • Medication can only help manage the symptoms of illnesses. We'll have to deal with the causes of physical problems within our mind to fully resolve the issue.

  • Most people try to keep healthy by nourishing their body; a smart guy will try to keep healthy by nourishing his qi; a truly wise man will try to keep healthy by nourishing his mind. (下士养身,中士养气,上士养心。)

  • The key to have a healthy body is to have a tranquil mind, as when our mind is at peace, our qi flows smoothly; when our qi flows smoothly, our blood transfusion is adequate; when our blood transfusion is adequate, our life essence is sufficient; when our life essence is sufficient, our spirit is potent; when our spirit is potent, our defence against virus attacks will be robust. So let's deal with problems in our bodies by addressing issues in our mind first. (故安心法,为卫生第一要诀。心定则气和,气和则血顺,血顺则精足而神旺,精足神旺者,内部抵抗力强,病自除矣。故治病当以摄心为主。)

  • The best way to resolve the issue in our mind can be summarised in two words: Let Go (放下). If we can let go everything from our mind and our heart, the illness will be unable to stick to us.

  • Once we do not mind of losing, we'll have nothing to fear; once we have nothing to fear, our mind will be at peace.

  • The real scientific attitudes is to fully acknowledge the relationship between the cause and the consequences. (真正的科学是什麽?就是因缘果报。不信因果,就不是真正的科学。)

  • When our cultivation reaches a certain level, some old illness may manifest. Which is a good thing. Deal with them calmly so the deep rooted problems can be resolved without further delay.

  • If we want to live longer, we should know how to rehabilitate from our illness; If we want to know how to rehabilitate from our illness, we should know how to utilize our qi; If we want to know how to utilize our qi, we should know what our unique nature is; If we want to know what our unique nature is, we should know who we really are beyond our temporary physical shelter. (凡人欲求长寿,应先除病。欲求除病,当明用气。欲明用气,当先养性。养性之法,当先调心。 )
