A Penda Rejects an Extreme View in Black n White

A brow-coloured baby penda was spotted in Shaanxi Province (陕西) on November 1 at around 1pm, which is the fifth brown penda found in China.

The first penda in a brown coloured coat, instead of in a trademark white and black outfit, was discovered in 1985 in a bamboo forest in Shaanxi's Qinling (秦岭) mountainous region, another major congregation area of giant pendas apart from Sichuan and Hubei. According to the latest survey carried out between 1999 and 2003, there are nearly 300 pendas living in the area.

This newly discovered brown penda is believed to be less than two month old and was found at the time lying on a pile of bamboo streamers with its mom in normal black and white wandering nearby. Although the baby was too young to open its eyes, its audio sense has fully developed, and when approached by people, it would utter a scream in an attempt to scare the aliens away.
